PHNOM PENH – Cambodia on Tuesday says it has banned the importation of vegetables and fruits from Thailand, the country’s immigration chief said.
“We have prohibited the imports of vegetables and fruits from Thailand at all border crossings, starting from this morning,’’ Police Lt-Gen. Sok Veasna said.
Veasna a Director-General of the General Department of Immigration, told Xinhua over the phone.
According to him border tensions between the two countries have mounted recently after soldiers of both countries briefly exchanged gunfire in a disputed border area.
This he said resulted to the death of a Cambodian soldier. (Xinhua/NAN)(
