ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Minority Leader of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Kingsley Chinda, has emerged as the governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the 2027 Rivers State election following the party’s gubernatorial primaries held on Thursday.
The outcome of the primaries drew widespread attention as Chinda secured a landslide victory, emerging as the sole candidate after other aspirants reportedly withdrew from the race or stepped down before the exercise.
Announcing the result, Chairman of the APC Governorship and House of Assembly Primaries Committee, Rt. Hon. Laori Kwamoti, declared that Chinda polled 268,497 valid votes to clinch the party’s ticket, having met all constitutional requirements and party regulations.
According to a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Ekesunnie Caleb, Chinda participated in the voting process earlier in the day at his hometown, Elelenwo, where a large crowd of party supporters turned out in his favour.
Speaking after his emergence, the APC flag bearer pledged to govern Rivers State with the fear of God, uphold the rule of law, and ensure accountability in governance.
He also commended fellow aspirants who stepped down from the contest, describing their actions as contributions to the credibility and beauty of the democratic process.
Chinda expressed appreciation to party leaders and members for finding him worthy of the mandate and promised to run an inclusive administration anchored on his political philosophy, “I Win, You Win.”
“It is going to be teamwork. My theme has always been ‘I win, you win.’ The party is going to sit down and chart the course and process moving forward,” he said.
The APC candidate further thanked the leadership and supporters of the party for their confidence in his candidacy as preparations begin ahead of the 2027 governorship election in Rivers State.
