UMUAHIA- Abia Civil Service Commission on Friday lauded the Governor, Alex Otti for providing the logistics for the hosting of the National Council Meeting of Civil Service Commissions of the Federation.
The Chairman of the commission, Dr Eno Jerry-Eze, at news conference in Umuahia, said all arrangements to host the 44th National Council Meeting had been concluded.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the meeting will begin on Nov. 30 and end on Dec. 5 in Umuahia.
Jerry-Eze said that all 36 states and the Federal Capital Territory would be attending the meeting.
She described Abia’s selection to host the meeting as a national endorsement of the state’s progressive reforms under Otti.
Jerry-Eze said that the current administration had repositioned the state through institutional renewal, modernisation projects and people-focused governance.
She said the meeting would give Abia increased visibility, platform to showcase its transformational journey, which included a civil-service model built on merit, professionalism and efficiency, and digital-driven personnel management.
Jerry-Eze said that the Abia Leadership Academy and the TECHRise Initiative of the government was helping the state groom young leaders and technology talents for strategic roles in government.
She announced key achievements of the Commission to include a new modern office complex, improved synergy with the Office of the Head of Service, and the recruitment of 771 healthcare workers through a merit-based process.
She commended Otti for ensuring the state ranked the most prepared state for health emergencies in the 2025 SBM Health Preparedness Index.
Jerry-Eze assured that the state would continue to modernise its civil service in line with the vision of the New Abia Agenda of the Otti-led administration.(NAN)
