The incident comes in the wake of Davido’s emotional court appearances over the custody of his daughter, Imade Adeleke, which had already drawn widespread public attention.

During the court proceedings on Thursday at the Lagos State High Court, Yaba, Davido reportedly lost patience with a lawyer representing his estranged partner, Sophia Momodu, mother of his daughter.
The singer’s frustrations boiled over in a now widely circulated Instagram post on Friday , “@Belachukwu, I disgraced you in the courtroom. I was teaching you your work, you couldn’t even take it and then went on to mention my son.
“Like I said in the courtroom, I pray you never go through what me and my wife have gone through ever, and you were still smiling, smirking.
“You are a wicked human being. You are the worst lawyer ever. I beat you in court. You are not learned.”
The post reflected Davido’s outrage over what he perceived as an insensitive remark regarding his deceased son during cross-examination.
Shortly after venting his frustrations, Davido reposted a post from gospel artiste, Tosin Bee, to his Instagram story on Friday , mistakenly assuming a connection between the artist and the lawyer.

In the now-deleted story, Davido wrote, ”And she has a son. Tosin you will live long amen with the rubbish you dey sing.
“So your son nah musician Bella Chukwu. You no even get sense. Make we help am. Useless people.”
The repost triggered an immediate backlash, with fans targeting Tosin Bee’s Instagram page under the impression he had a personal connection to the lawyer mentioned by Davido.
Reacting to the sudden wave of hostility, Tosin Bee clarified the situation, describing it as a case of mistaken identity.
“Hello Mr David, I don’t know anything about the post you made. As a matter of fact, my mum went to be with the Lord eight years ago.
“I guess this is a case of mistaken identity. So sorry you had to deal with this, but my prayers are with you. I love you brother,” the artist clarified.
The gospel artist’s clarification shifted online discussions, with several users calling out the harassment.
#officialabiodunmicheal wrote, “This is a matter of mistaken identity. He deserves a public apology. This man is a gospel musician/artiste for God’s sake.”
#styledby_ab_ added, “Just imagine, bullying someone unprovoked.”
#charellaujah5 said, “Even if he’s the son of the lawyer, was he in the courtroom with them? Also, it’s painful but emotions don’t work in the courtroom.”
#b_akomz noted, “I told you that’s not his mom. That lawyer is 49 years. This singer will be 41 this year. He can’t possibly be 8 or 9 years older than his son.”
Some social media users took a lighter view, suggesting that the controversy had inadvertently increased Tosin Bee’s visibility.
#tobi.gbadero commented, “God will use unbelievers to announce you. Enjoy the global announcement sir.”
#amaofosogbo added, “Egbon e ma beru, e ma foya. He’s a miracle-working God. Announcement yi tun yato o.”
The drama adds another layer to Davido’s ongoing legal battle with Sophia Momodu over the custody of their daughter, Imade.

Late Friday, Davido confirmed on X that he would be withdrawing the custody case, clarifying that he never sought full custody.
“I never asked for full custody. I asked for joint custody. Nobody won, nobody lost but Imade. There is nothing to celebrate,” he wrote.
He also expressed disappointment with the turn of events in court, saying, ”I’ve decided to drop the case because … until she brought out her last card! MY DECEASED SON! THAT’S A NO NO! Lowest blow!
“My daughter will grow up knowing I fought for her … let’s move on. One love!”
PUNCH Online had previously reported that Davido filed an originating motion at the Lagos State High Court seeking joint custody of his daughter.
In the suit marked LD/1587PMC/2024, dated April 17, 2024, the singer prayed the court for, “An order granting joint custody of Miss Imade Adeleke to the applicant,” or alternatively, Unfettered and unrestricted access to Miss Imade.”
The motion was supported by a 44-paragraph affidavit deposed to by Davido himself, in which he highlighted his consistent involvement in his daughter’s upbringing.
“It is on record that I have been responsible for the payment of all the school fees of my daughter to provide her with the best education possible and to meet all her educational needs without a hitch,” he stated.
Despite the legal tension, Imade has continued to spend time with her father, including after her recent win at a talent contest, suggesting some level of co-parenting cooperation.
