Dangote vs Imported Diesel Price: Dangote Sells at N1,700, MEMAN Landing Cost at N1,785

The Dangote Petroleum Refinery has announced a fresh reduction in the price of Automotive Gas Oil (AGO), popularly known as diesel, cutting its gantry price to N1,700 per litre.

The new price template, released to customers on Wednesday, shows a reduction of N80 per litre from the previous price of N1,780 per litre.

With this adjustment, Dangote diesel is now between N75 and N85 per litre cheaper than imported diesel in the Nigerian market.

The latest petroleum products price bulletin issued by the Major Energies Marketers Association of Nigeria (MEMAN) on October 5, 2026, revealed that the landing cost of imported diesel currently stands between N1,775 and N1,785 per litre.

This means businesses and manufacturers who buy directly from Dangote Refinery will save up to N85 on every litre of diesel purchased, compared to the imported alternative.

The price cut comes at a time when global crude oil prices remain high, with West Texas Intermediate (WTI) trading around $89 per barrel and Brent crude at about $101 per barrel.

Industry analysts say the move by the $20 billion Lekki-based refinery is expected to ease production costs for industries, transporters and power-dependent businesses that rely heavily on diesel for operations.

The Dangote Refinery, with a capacity of 650,000 barrels per day, has continued to disrupt the downstream petroleum market since it commenced full commercial operations, offering competitive pricing for diesel, aviation fuel and petrol.

Marketers believe the latest diesel price parity will further force down the price of imported AGO and discourage excessive importation, in line with the Federal Government’s drive for local refining and energy self-sufficiency.
