Davido and Wizkid Collaboration Could Have Elevated Afrobeats Globally – Asa Asika

by Joy: News Admin

Asa Asika, manager to Afrobeats star Davido, has suggested that the genre would have reached even greater international heights if Davido, Wizkid, and other leading Nigerian artistes had prioritised collaborations.

Speaking on the Afropolitan podcast, Asika reflected on Afrobeats’ global rise and compared it to the remarkable growth of Latin music, which he attributed largely to the consistent collaborations among stars like Bad Bunny, J Balvin, and Nicky Jam.

“Afrobeats could have been bigger if Davido, Wizkid, and others had worked together more often. I might be wrong, but I believe the genre would have gained even more global traction,” he said.

Asika emphasised that such high-profile joint projects would not only boost the genre’s international streaming and audience reach but also strengthen its ticket value at major global events.

“Our genre’s ticket values at international shows would be stronger,” he added, highlighting the commercial and cultural benefits of unity among top Afrobeats acts.

His comments reignite ongoing discussions within the industry about the potential impact of greater collaboration between Nigeria’s biggest music exports.
