ABUJA (PRECISE POST)   –  The Delta State Government has evacuated its indigenes studying at the University of Jos following the worsening security situation in Plateau State, underscoring its commitment to the safety and welfare of students.
The evacuated students were received by government officials, with the State Director of Protocol, Sunday Onoriode, praising what he described as a swift and decisive intervention by Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
Onoriode explained that the evacuation became necessary after the university was shut down in response to the escalating crisis in the state. He noted that the operation was approved by the governor and coordinated by the Executive Assistant on Students Affairs, Ezekiel Okoh.
According to him, the immediate priority of the government was to ensure the safety of the affected students, many of whom were caught in the uncertainty triggered by the unrest.
He reassured the students of the state government’s continued support, expressing optimism that they would return to complete their academic programmes once peace is restored. He added that the disruption to their studies is only temporary and that their educational goals remain intact.
The Delta State Government reiterated that the evacuation aligns with its broader commitment under the MORE Agenda to protect citizens and invest in their future, especially during periods of crisis.
