MINNA – The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Niger says it has deployed 600 personnel to ensure a hitch-free Eid-el-fitr celebration across the state.
This is contained in a statement issued by the FRSC Public Education Officer in the state, Grace Idoko, on Thursday in Minna.Idoko also said that 22 patrol vehicles, three ambulances, and one towing truck had been deployed to strategic locations across the state.She explained that the deployment was in line with the Corps’ statutory mandate to promote road safety and reduce traffic crashes.“The command has strategically deployed a total of 600 personnel across major highways, critical corridors, and identified black spots within Niger State to enhance traffic control, enforcement, and emergency response.“To strengthen operational effectiveness, the command has equally deployed 22 patrol vehicles, three ambulances, and one towing truck.“These resources are positioned to ensure quick response to emergencies, prompt evacuation of crash victims, and immediate clearance of obstructions on the highways,” she said.The Sector Commander, Aishat Saadu, said the special patrol was designed to address the anticipated increase in vehicular movement during the Sallah period.Saadu stated that officers and men of the corps would be on 24-hour duty to monitor traffic, enforce compliance with road safety regulations, and assist motorists in distress.The sector commander advised motorists to avoid speeding, dangerous overtaking, overloading, the use of mobile phones while driving, and other traffic violations.She also urged them to ensure their vehicles are in good condition before embarking on any journey.Saadu called on all road users to cooperate with FRSC personnel and other security agencies to ensure a peaceful and accident-free celebration.She further encouraged members of the public to promptly report any road traffic crashes or emergencies to the nearest FRSC patrol team.Saadu wished all Muslim faithful a peaceful and joyous celebration.(NAN)
