ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (FCT Council), Grace Ike, has extended warm felicitations to Muslim faithful in the Federal Capital Territory on the occasion of Eid-el-Fitr, marking the end of the holy month of Ramadan.
In a statement issued in Abuja, Ike described Ramadan as a period of deep spiritual reflection, self-discipline, sacrifice, and renewed commitment to the service of humanity. She commended Muslims for their devotion throughout the fasting period, noting that their conduct reflects values essential for peaceful coexistence and social harmony.
The NUJ chairman urged Muslim faithful, particularly media professionals, to sustain the virtues of patience, tolerance, compassion, and generosity imbibed during Ramadan. According to her, these values are vital in strengthening unity within communities and promoting national development.
She also called on Nigerians, irrespective of religious or ethnic backgrounds, to embrace unity and mutual respect, stressing that the country’s diversity remains a key strength that must be harnessed for cohesion and progress.
Ike encouraged citizens to extend acts of kindness to the less privileged, emphasizing that Eid-el-Fitr is not only a time for celebration but also a season of sharing and empathy.
Furthermore, she urged leaders at all levels to reflect on the lessons of sacrifice and service highlighted during Ramadan, and to prioritize policies that promote inclusiveness, accountability, and the overall well-being of citizens.
While wishing Muslims a peaceful and joyful Eid-el-Fitr celebration, Ike also advised residents to celebrate responsibly and adhere to public safety guidelines.
She expressed hope that the blessings of the season would bring renewed unity, peace, and prosperity to Nigeria.
