ABUJA- The First Lady, Sen Oluremi Tinubu, says her pet project, Renewed Hope Initiative (RHI) will inaugurate “Flow With Confidence Initiative” aimed at distributing 370,000 cartons of locally manufactured sanitary towels.
Mrs Tinubu made this known on Thursday in Abuja during the first quarterly meeting of the RHI with the wives of Governors across the country and that of the FCT Minister
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports the wives of governors are the State Coordinators of RHI in the states.
Mrs Tinubu said that RHI would be opening the Flow With Confidence initiative soon with 370,000 cartons of sanitary towels and will be giving 10,000 cartons to each state including the FCT.
She said the RHI sanitary towels which would be manufactured locally also focused on boosting financial values of the local manufacturers, workers and adding to the nation’s economic development.
She pleaded with each of the coordinators to ensure that each girl child gets a carton especially those in the rural communities.
“We have decided that each person is going to be getting a carton, when we launch the Frrr to Flow initiative,” she said.
Mrs Tinubu also disclosed that the RHI is collaborating with the Ministry of Agriculture to clean up the environment across the nation by recycling the plastic waste.
“I traveled to some states and what I saw was appalling; plastic wastes defacing the beauty of the cities.
“We are working towards addressing the challenge. There are lots to be done and nothing is wrong with us starting.
Mrs Tinubu added: “We don’t have to be intimidated by the enormity of the plastic wastes we see around, which are blocking our drainages.
“We will start by teaching our children in the schools on how to keep their environment clean.
“We are going to introduce the Environment/ Climate Change clubs for the Senior Secondary School, as well as Environmental Climate Change Society for those in the faculty of Environment in various higher institutions”
The First Lady who solicited the support of the RHI state coordinators also disclosed that they would undertake a study the recycling plant in Ghana. (NAN)
