ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State on Monday presented 2025 budget of N1.18 trillion to the State House of Assembly.

Fubara disclosed this when he took to his X account after presentating the budget proposal called Budget of Inclusive Growth and Development to the Rivers State House of Assembly which he said will be driving progress in agriculture, education, healthcare, and other infrastructural projects.

He further stated that this budget reflects our commitment to advancing prosperity for all Rivers people.

Precise Post recalls that this is marking Fubara’s second budget presentation since assuming office in May 2023. The presentation took place under the leadership of the newly elected Speaker, Honorable Victor Oko Jumbo.

The session began with Speaker Jumbo reading a letter from the executive, seeking the Assembly’s approval to present the budget bill. This formal request set the stage for Governor Fubara’s comprehensive address to the lawmakers.

This marks a significant moment in the state’s governance, especially considering the challenges surrounding the state legislature. Last year, Governor Fubara presented his inaugural budget to an Assembly that was in a state of division, with a four-member faction led by Edison Ehie, who was recognized as Speaker by a State High Court. Currently, the state legislature is still divided, with one faction loyal to Governor Fubara and another supporting the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

The presentation of the 2025 budget, which covers critical sectors of the state’s economy and development plans, is seen as a pivotal moment in Governor Fubara’s administration. Observers are keenly watching to see how the state legislature will respond, especially amid the ongoing political tensions within the Assembly.

Governor Fubara’s second budget proposal highlights his continued push for infrastructural development, healthcare, and education reforms, all of which are central to his campaign promises. The proposed budget is expected to play a significant role in shaping the state’s growth trajectory in the coming year.

As the political landscape of Rivers State continues to evolve, the focus now shifts to the deliberations within the Assembly.
