The president of Galatasaray, Dursun Özbek, has denied reports claiming the club owes salaries to its players, including Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen.
Some Turkish media outlets had earlier reported that the club was behind on salary payments to members of the squad.
Reacting to the reports, Özbek dismissed the claims, insisting that the club has fulfilled all its financial obligations to players.
According to him, the reports were false and could create unnecessary tension around the club.
“Galatasaray is an elite team made up of world-class footballers. If players are not paid for two or three months, they will not play,” he said.
Özbek also stressed that the club pays all bonuses and incentive clauses in players’ contracts on time.
“Galatasaray has not defaulted on a single lira,” he added.
The clarification comes amid increasing scrutiny of the financial situation of several clubs in the Turkish Süper Lig.
