Gov Alia awards over 80 road contracts in 2 years – CPS

MAKURDI- Gov. Hyacinth Alia has awarded more than 80 road projects since assumption of office two years ago.

The Chief Press Secretary (CPS), Mr Tersoo Kula, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), on Wednesday in Makurdi.

Kula said the governor also awarded two underpass constructions in Makurdi and Gboko.

He said the underpass projects, which were at 80 per cent completion level, would ease traffic in the two cities.

He further said that about 25 township road projects were completed in Makurdi and that 10 road constructions were still ongoing.

He said the governor was also constructing at least one road in each of the 23 LGAs.

According to the CPS, the governor is determined to change the old order and completely strengthen the state infrastructure.

“As far as infrastructure is concern, the governor has done massive and elaborate. The infrastructure development covers all sectors of human life.

“It covers education, health, security, economy, transport, among others.

“When you talk about the transport sector, for instance, you have roads and streets constructed across the length and breadth of this state.

“Starting with Makurdi the state Capital, 16 township roads were awarded in the first phrase and completed. Additional ones were awarded, and out of that, about ten have been completed.

“Work is ongoing on seven in Idey part of the town alone. Again, there is at least a road construction ongoing in all the 23 LGAs in the state as we speak.

“We have Mbawuar-Bokotyam-Naa road, Branch Atser-Kornya road, Adikpo – Koti Yough road and ⁠Ushongu-Gbem road ongoing.

“Others are Igumale -Apa-Agila road, Obagaji-Okokolo- Agagbe road, Awajir-Oju road, Daudu-Ukpam-Gbajimba road amongst others,” Kula said.

According to him, the governor is executing all the projects without borrowing a dime, saying that it is a result of Alia’s prudent management of Benue resources. (NAN)
