Enugu (Precise Post) — Enugu State Governor Peter Mbah has inspected the ongoing 44.1-kilometre Enugu–Ugwogo Nike–Opi–Nsukka dual carriageway, describing the project as a critical socioeconomic lifeline for Enugu State.
Disclosing this on his X handle @PNMbah on Friday, the Governor highlighted that the inspection was to assess the pace and quality of work on the strategic corridor linking Enugu to Nsukka.
He expressed satisfaction with progress so far and said that the contractor has reaffirmed its commitment to deliver the project by October 2026, provided funding remains steady and timelines are strictly followed.
Beyond construction progress, Mbah also visited identified security flashpoints along the route, stressing that infrastructure development must go hand in hand with security interventions.
According to him, the state government has mapped out immediate engineering solutions to address vulnerabilities and will establish a forward operating base to permanently tackle security threats along the corridor.
“This road will not only connect communities and unlock economic opportunities, it will also strengthen safety and restore confidence along a vital corridor in our state,” the governor said.
Mbah pledged sustained oversight of the project, vowing that his administration would continue to carry out regular inspections to ensure every kilometre meets the highest standards before completion.
The dual carriageway is expected to significantly improve mobility, boost commerce, and enhance security across the Enugu–Nsukka axis.
