ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Residents of Nsit Ibom Local Government Area were treated to an unexpected spectacle on Workers’ Day as a routine mission by the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) transformed a quiet school football field into a hub of excitement and inspiration.
According to the report released on the official X handle of the Nigeria Air Force on Saturday, the incident occurred when a NAF helicopter, on a liaison flight across the Niger Delta, made a precautionary landing at a primary school football field in Nsit Ibom in line with standard aviation safety procedures.
What began as a routine maneuver quickly turned into a memorable experience for residents of Afaha Abia and Ikot Obio Asanga villages, many of whom had never seen a military helicopter at such close range.
Children and youths flocked to the football field, watching in amazement as the aircraft touched down, turning the ordinarily calm environment into a lively gathering point.

Seizing the moment, Air Force personnel engaged the enthusiastic crowd, offering insights into career opportunities within the military and stressing the importance of discipline, patriotism, and national service.
The interaction appeared to leave a lasting impression, with several young attendees expressing interest in joining the Air Force.
The visit also highlighted strong inter-agency collaboration, as personnel of the Nigerian Army worked alongside their Air Force counterparts to ensure smooth operations during the brief stopover. Community leaders welcomed the officers warmly, reinforcing mutual trust and cooperation between security forces and civilians.
After completing all required safety checks, the helicopter departed the area and returned safely to base.
However, beyond the brief landing, the encounter left behind a deeper impact—igniting dreams, strengthening civil-military relations, and showcasing the Nigerian Air Force’s commitment to community engagement and national development.
