Following Tuesday’s ruling by the federal High Court sitting in Jalingo which nullified the primaries of the All Progressives Congress APC in Taraba state that produced Senator Emmanuel Bwacha as the governorship candidate of the party ahead of the 2023 general elections, the spokesperson for the Bwacha Campaign organization Mr Aaron Artimas has called for calm among members of the party.
Artimas, who is also the publicity secretary of the party in the state described the ruling as a temporary setback that should not cause any alarm.
He said that the national secretariat of the party remains the only organ with the authority to field candidates for various elective positions and assured that the organization will wait for the decision of the party leadership while the judges study the case so as to make well informed decisions.
“The National Executive Committee of the party remains the organ empowered by the constitution and the Electoral Act to present candidates for election into various offices. While awaiting the decision of NEC of the party, our team of Lawyers will study the judgement after the receipt of the hard copy before deciding on the next line of action.
“We remain unperturbed by this temporary decision by the court of first instance and advise all our Coordinators and supporters to intensify their campaigns. The Bwacha Gubernatorial Campaign Council hereby assures everyone that our campaign is open to any option to be decided by the party.”
