I’ll make your votes count, presidential aspirant tells electorate

ABUJA – A presidential aspirant on the platform of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Dr Chris Orazulike, says he is in the presidential race to ensure that the votes of the electorate count.

Orazulike said this during a chat with newsmen in Abuja on Sunday.

He said that he is submitting himself to leadership at the presidential level in Nigeria to change the narrative about the true power of electorate in promoting good governance.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to ensure they actively participated in the elections to vote in the 2027 general elections.

He said that Nigeria needed a free and fair election to move forward.

According to him, once the elected leaders know that the voice of the people matters, elected public office holders will do right things while in office.

“Today marks a milestone in my political aspiration as I officially declare my interest in the presidency of the Federal Republic of Nigeria.

“My primary interest in running for the presidency is to ensure that the votes count.

“A free and fair election is all that Nigeria needs to move forward.

“Once the elected leaders know that the voice of the people matters, they will do the right things in office,” he said.

Orazulike, also a Pharmacist and a researcher, said that to achieve his ambition he and his team were already developing structures at the national, state, local government, ward and polling unit levels.

“We are already brainstorming and developing strategies to counter known election rigging methods and project into expected new methods.

“Our votes must count or this country must stop wasting funds on elections.

“My manifesto has two agenda: to listen to God through my conscience and to listen to the people through voice and video calls.

“The truth is that any leader that sincerely listens to the people directly (not through representatives) and strives to do what they want, will succeed,” he said.

Orazulike said that the party was doing its best to mobilise the public to make an impact during the elections.

“With the remaining months to the election the party will put all it can together to ensure that it is well prepared for the election,” he said.

He said the party was working towards having it’s convention after which the primaries would take place.

“Leadership is not all about the five or seven points agenda but the ability to listen to the voice of the people at the grassroots.

“It is the ability to listen to the voice of those that can tell the government what it should take to solve their communities’ problems,” Orazulike said.
