ABUJA – The Corps Marshal, Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), Malam Shehu Mohammed has congratulated President Bola Tinubu, on the occasion of Nigeria’s 65th Independence anniversary celebration.
This is contained in his congratulatory message to mark the nation’s 2025 Independence day celebration, on Wednesday in Abuja.
Mohammed described the celebration as an opportunity for all Nigerians to reflect and rededicate themselves to the spirit of patriotism, sacrifice and commitment to national security and safety on the highways.
According to him, Nigeria’s independence day anniversary which comes up on Oct. 1st every year is a period of national reflection.
“It is a reminder that every patriotic citizen must remain loyal and dedicated to the ideals of nation building, patriotism and peaceful coexistence for enhanced national economic prosperity.”
The FRSC boss, however, urged Nigerians to celebrate with prayers and caution, saying “only those who are alive can celebrate”.
He added that independence anniversary celebration was one of the events in the FRSC’s operational calendar during which the corps anticipate increased human and vehicular movements to mark the joyous event.
“The corps therefore organises special patrols to manage the traffic and ensure that motorists conform to traffic rules and regulations.
”This year is not an exception, even though there are no major national programmes to mark the event.
“Everyone must therefore adhere strictly to the laid down rules of the road and avoid acts capable of compromising safety,” he warned.
The corps marshal emphasised that any traffic violator whose vehicle was apprehended for some identified traffic offences would have his or her vehicle impounded to serve as deterrent to others.
He listed the offences to include route violation, dangerous driving, drunk driving and traffic light disobedience.
He therefore enjoined Nigerians to remain vigilant and celebrate with care, while wishing all citizens safe and happy celebration.
He further prayed for national prosperity, peace and harmony among all citizens. (NAN)(
