Iranian foreign minister stresses diplomacy in phone call with French counterpart

by Administrator

TEHRAN – Iranian Foreign Minister Seyed Abbas Araghchi on Tuesday night reiterated that diplomacy is the only path to address international issues, including the Iranian nuclear programme.

Araghchi made the remarks during a telephone conversation with French Minister for Europe and Foreign Affairs Jean-Noel Barrot, the Iranian foreign ministry said.

He voiced concern over rising tensions and called for dialogue and a return to the diplomatic track, saying Iran remains ready for any fair and balanced solution that secures the interests of all parties.

Araghchi reaffirmed the peaceful nature of Iran’s nuclear programme and referred to the recent agreement reached with the International Atomic Energy Agency as evidence of Tehran’s continued cooperation.

The two ministers also reviewed bilateral relations, including consular issues, and agreed on the importance of maintaining contacts and consultations between their countries. (Xinhua/NAN)
