LOKOJA- International Music Star, Juwon Demas Olorunnipa, popularly known as Jumabee, has been honored with the Nigerian Post Newspaper Award as Kogi Music Ambassador.
The award was presented to Jumabee by Mr Michael Abu, the Editor of the Nigerian Post, on Saturday in Lokoja.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that event is to celebrate the Nigerian Post Newspaper’s Kogi @ 34 Public Lecture and Awards programme, an annual event to mark the state’s creation anniversary.
The award was presented to Jumabee with excitement, and he dedicated it to former Gov. Yahaya Bello and current Gov. Ahmed Ododo.
Jumabee expressed his gratitude and pledged to commit his life and services to portraying Kogi in a good light.
The music star also dedicated the award to his late father, who he credited for grooming him to become a positive reference.
“The award will spur me to do more, serving as a Pathfinder for Nigerian and Kogi youths in particular,” he said.
Mr Michael Abu, the Editor of the Nigerian Post, described him as a distinguished personality who has contributed to the development of the state.
“Jumabee has made critical differences in the discharge of his talent, with uncommon zeal and commitment to the common good of the country and the State in particular,” Abu said.
The award recognises Jumabee’s role in promoting music education, cultural exchange, and artistic collaboration globally.
Jumabee, a renowned Nigerian singer and songwriter from Kogi , has made a name for himself in the music industry with his Afro hip-hop genre.
Jumabee started music at a young age, joining his church choir, and gained prominence after performing at the Glo Rock ‘n’ Roll show.
The music icon has worked with notable artists like Vector, YQ, Jaywon, Adol, Cynthia Morgan, and Rayce. Some of his hit singles include “Mango”, “Dance It”, “Sankara”, “Braka Dance”, and “Sugar Banana”, among others.
He has been involved in promoting talent and youth development, signing a bilateral agreement with a Canadian team to support Kogi artistes and entertainers.
Jumabee also serves as a Special Adviser on Art and Culture to the Kogi Governor.
Jumabee has also been organising the Jumabee Inspires Concert, a major event in the North Central region that promotes music, fashion, event planning, and movie industries.
His latest album, “Son of Margaret”, is a deeply personal project that tells his life story through music. (NAN)
