JALINGO (PRECISE POST) – Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the protection of lives and property across the state, as part of sustained efforts to strengthen security and combat crime.
The governor gave the assurance during the handover of 100 motorbikes and 10 Hilux patrol vans to the state security outfit, Taraba Marshal, aimed at enhancing grassroots security operations. He was represented at the event by Nelson Lens, a member of the Taraba State House of Assembly.
Governor Kefas explained that the vehicles and motorbikes were procured to support the operational capacity of the Taraba Marshal in safeguarding communities, particularly at the local level where security challenges often begin.
Recalling the situation he met upon assuming office, the governor noted that insecurity had made it difficult for residents to sleep peacefully across the state. He, however, expressed satisfaction that the security situation has improved significantly, making Taraba a safer place for its citizens.
He commended the various security agencies operating in the state for their dedication and collaboration, while also appreciating residents for their continued cooperation with security operatives in maintaining peace and order.
In his remarks, the Commandant of Taraba Marshal, Retired Commissioner of Police Agyole Abeh, praised Governor Kefas for creating a conducive security environment in the state. He acknowledged the consistent support the security outfit has received from the governor, describing the latest procurement of patrol vehicles and motorbikes as a further demonstration of that commitment.
Retired CP Abeh disclosed that the 100 motorbikes and 10 Hilux patrol vans would be deployed across the 16 local government areas of the state to strengthen security presence at the grassroots and improve rapid response to security threats.
He assured the governor and residents that the Taraba Marshal would continue to utilise the resources effectively to enhance public safety and sustain the gains recorded in the state’s security architecture.
