KANO(PRECISE POST) – The New Nigerian Peoples Party (NNPP) Presidential candidate on the February 25, 2023 general election in Nigeria, Senator Rabiu Kwankwaso has extended his congratulations to the Tijjaniyya Sufi Order for the successful completion of the annual Maulud celebration of Sheikh Ibrahim Inyass at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kano.
Kwankwaso also commended the efforts of His Royal Highness, Khalifa Muhammad Sanusi II, the Emir of Kano, and His Excellency, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, the Governor of Kano State, for organizing the event.
Despite the success of the gathering, Kwankwaso expressed concerns over a ‘terror alert’ issued by the Kano State Police Command on the eve of the celebration. According to Kwankwaso, the alert created unnecessary panic and disrupted the event, putting the safety of attendees at risk. He also noted that the false alarm could have long-term consequences by diminishing public trust in future security alerts.
The former governor criticized the police for what he described as their complicity in actions that align with the Federal Government’s interests, calling into question their impartiality and integrity. He emphasized that issuing such a significant and ultimately unfounded threat sets a dangerous precedent, urging caution in handling similar situations going forward.
Kwankwaso further expressed concern about the negative global perception of the Nigeria Police Force, especially considering the international nature of the event. He called on the Kano police leadership to maintain professionalism and avoid being seen as politically biased.
In his statement, Kwankwaso also reiterated his call for the Federal Government to refrain from interfering in the internal affairs of Kano State, urging it to respect the autonomy of the state and its government in managing local matters.
