Ambassador Akin Ayetoro has charged the College of Immaculate Conception (CIC) Enugu class of 90 also known as EL Classico to lean and leverage on one another to lighten their burdens.
He gave the charge on Saturday at the ocassion of 32 years anniversary of CIC Enugu Boys Association, Class of 90 El Classico, Abuja 2022 reunion with the theme: “Reuniting in Hope, Strength and Brotherhood, held at Sandralia Hotel Jabi Abuja.
In his speech, Amb Akin who was the chairman of the ocassion, said reunions are good because they give one opportunity of the renewal, networking and opportunity to reflect as you go through this journey called life.
Akin, while speaking on the subject: “Restorative Power of Hope”, says that hope springs eternal in human best; hope it is that gets us up every morning giving in fresh impetus that we can do better today than the go gone bye. It is that eternal fountain that springs anew each morning , each day – infusing us with confidence that we may succeed if we are determined enough and steady at a course.
He continues: In hope lies the real meaning of purpose, hope springs eternal, therefore we pray, hope resurrects therefore we dare to scale mountains. Hope propels therefore we strive to achieve milestones, hope raises alive therefore we aspire to greater heights.
The Ambassador noted that truth and justice bind the wound but hope it is that truly heals, hope it is that restores, so we must profit from the restorative power of hope.
He said talking about reunion reminds him of friendship. He recalled what he saw on the Internet that has to do with friendship and what it’s liken to and quoted thus: ” Friendship is like balloons, once you let them go, you might never get them back. Adding that we sometimes get so busy with our own lives and problems that we may not even notice that we had let friends fly away. Similarly, he said we are so cut-up in who is right and who is wrong that we forget what is right and what is wrong.
Amb Akin who held the assemblage of accomplished men spell bound with his poetic speech reminded the Class 90 to keep friends close because sometimes we only feel their absence when they are gone. Furthermore, he noted friendship is anchored on trust, loyalty and dedication. He maintained that El Classico class of 90 has anchored their friendship on all the above which is why they are gathered here today.
The Ambassador advised that in building their lives they should ensure they infuse it with all the education, ability and skill they have because if that is not done, they will look back and wish they had done that but the opportunity would hate gone because that time is spent.
He reminded them that they are the carpenter of their lives as the attitude and choices they make today will be their house for tomorrow.
Earlier in his remarks, the president of the CIC Enugu Boys Association class of 90 hinted that his Executive has increased welfare of the group from two hundred thousand to 1m.
