Abuja (Precise Post) – The Federal Capital Territory Administration will from today (Wednesday) shut down pubs, parks, night clubs and other public places that attract gatherings.

The administration stated that the move was to curb the spread of  the second wave of COVID-19.

The Chairman, Federal Capital Territory Ministerial Task Team on Enforcement of COVID-19 Regulations, Ikharo Attah, disclosed this to The PUNCH on Tuesday.

Attah explained that his team had recommenced the enforcement of the health protocols, adding that 20 persons were arrested for not wearing face masks in the public.‌

The task force chairman also disclosed that seven vehicles were arrested for overloading and failing to adhere to social restrictions guidelines as stipulated by the FCTA.

Attah stated, “We started enforcing the health protocols today (Tuesday).

“We were led by the FCT Commissioner of Police, Bala Ciroma, and we impounded seven vehicles for over-overloading and not complying with the COVID-19 regulations, and also arrested 20 persons for not wearing face masks.  But we released them with warnings. We are starting with the gardens and parks tomorrow (Wednesday).”

Checks by our correspondent showed that patrons of bars, night clubs, gardens and bus parks in the FCT paid little attention to COVID-19 regulations with most people failing to wear face masks.
