ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – As the administration of President Bola Tinubu marks Two years in office on 29th May, political analyst Mr Musa Yakubu has described the inability of the President to appoint Ambassadors as a clear show that the administration lacks foreign policy direction.
Yakubu said this during an interaction with journalist in Jalingo on Wednesday.
He said that appointment of ambassadors is a constitutional matter that is also backed by international conventions such as the Vienna Convention, and as such should not be left unattended to for so long.
According to Yakubu, “in just a few hours, this administration would have spent its first Two years of the Four years tenure. Sadly, and most unfortunate, the President is yet to appoint Ambassadors.
“This is so embarrassing and shows that the administration lacks foreign policy direction. How can you allow all the 109 Foreign missions to operate without ambassadors for so long? Who represents the interest of Nigeria and Nigerians in these countries? It’s is simply unthinkable and unprecedented”.
Yakubu maintained that the opposition political parties are watching and taking note of the gross failures of the administration and will use them as demarketing tools against the administration in due course.
He urge the President to expediently address the issues surrounding the smooth operation of Nigerian foreign missions and appoint Ambassadors so that the interests of Nigerians will be well protected abroad.
