MAIDUGURI – The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) medical team, supported by staff of United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and World Health Organisation (WHO,) have commenced treatment of the patients in swift response to the alert of a suspected Monkey Pox case at one of the IDP Camps in Maiduguri, raised by a netizen, @Yadomah,
According to preliminary assessment, the mother, when asked, stated that the child has been down with rashes for two weeks and none of her siblings has such symptoms, the statement released on the official X account of NEMA said.
The statement further stated that the Borno Local Government Disease Surveillance team has taken her blood sample for further examination while she continues to receive medical attention. “We have, however, escalated the case to appropriate health authorities, including NCDC”, the medical team said.
“We have directed the strict compliance of all prevention measures against the spread of the infectious disease across all our camps, including practice of proper, regular handwashing, and disinfection of the surroundings,” NEMA added.
