AWKA – Wife of the Anambra Governor, Dr Nonye Soludo, has urged young people to embrace skills acquisition and lifelong learning, describing them as critical tools for self-reliance, innovation and sustainable development.
Soludo made the call on Wednesday in Awka in a message to commemorate the 2026 World Youth Skills Day, marked every July 15.
World Youth Skills Day is observed globally to celebrate the importance of equipping young people with technical, vocational, and digital skills for employment, decent work, and entrepreneurship.
She said investing in the skills, creativity and potential of young people remained the greatest investment any society could make.
According to her, youths who are equipped with the right knowledge and practical abilities become job creators, problem solvers and agents of positive change in their communities.
“As we celebrate World Youth Skills Day, let us remind ourselves that the greatest investment we can make is in the skills, creativity and potential of our young people.
“When youths are well-equipped with the right knowledge and practical abilities, they become job creators, problem solvers and agents of positive change in their communities,” she said.
The governor’s wife said her Healthy Living Initiative would continue to promote education, innovation and entrepreneurship to empower young people.
She encouraged youths to embrace continuous learning and never stop acquiring new skills, noting that every skill mastered was a step toward a more confident, productive and prosperous future.
Soludo urged young people in Anambra and beyond to remain focused on developing their talents and preparing themselves for future opportunities.
“Keep learning, keep creating and keep believing in yourselves.
“Your talents are your greatest assets, and the future belongs to those who prepare for it,” she said. (NAN)
