LAFIA – The Nasarawa State Government has donated two operational Hilux vehicles to the 1222 Quick Response Wing, Nigerian Air Force, Lafia, to strengthen security and tackle kidnapping in the state.
Dr Labaran Magaji, Secretary to the State Government (SSG), presented the vehicles to the Commanding Officer, 1222 Quick Response Wing, Sqn. Ldr. Mustapha Shaibu, on Friday in Lafia.
The SSG, represented by the Permanent Secretary, Cabinet Affairs, Office of the SSG, Mohammed Iliyasu-Idde, said that
the donation was in furtherance of Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s commitment to supporting security agencies.
“In furtherance of the commitment of Gov. Abdullahi Sule, in his continuous effort to support the security agencies with vehicles to stem the tide of security challenges, he has directed us to donate two new vehicles to you.
“On behalf of the Nasarawa State Government, I wish to present the keys and the allocation papers of these two vehicles for use by the Quick Response Wing, Nigerian Air Force,” he said.
Receiving the vehicles, Shuaibu, thanked the state government for the gesture, saying it would directly address a major operational gap.
He explained that inadequate operational vehicles had been a challenge to the unit’s operations.
“So with these two brand new Toyota Hilux vans graciously donated to us by the governor, our operations would be greatly enhanced in containing kidnapping and other criminal activities here in Lafia and Nasarawa State at large,” he said.
He appreciated Gov. Sule, and the office of the SSG on behalf of the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sunday Aneke, and personnel of the Quick Response Wing for the donation. (NAN)
