Naval personnel exercise to keep fit, combat ready

MAKURDI- Personnel of the Nigerian Navy Provost Regulating School, and Special Operations Command, Makurdi on Saturday, held a quarterly exercise to keep fit and be combat ready to tackle the security challenges bedevilling the country.

Commodore Mayowa Olukoya, Chief Staff Officer of Special Operations Command, Makurdi, said the essence of the exercise was also for the men to keep fit, know each other  and their environment.

Olukoya added that it was also meant to know the host community better.

The commandant assured Benue and the neighbouring states that the Nigerian Navy was for them.

“It is to make sure that everything is in place security-wise and also let them know that we are on their side.

“The exercise is a routine in the armed forces, including the Navy, and we do it quarterly.

“I am happy with the turnout that included personnel of sister services and other security agencies.

“I hope you will build on this and continue exercising regularly because it is good for your body and your health,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the route march began at the provost school and went round the major streets in Makurdi. (NAN)
