Ndidi to Wear Captain’s Armband for Super Eagles in AFCON 2025

by Arabella Zikora

Troost-Ekong announced his retirement from international football on Thursday.

Ndidi, who captained the Super Eagles at the 2026 FIFA World Cup playoffs in Morocco last month, will now officially take up the role at the AFCON.

The midfielder and winger, Moses Simon are currently the most senior members of the Super Eagles.

Simon is expected to be named vice-captain.

Ndidi, who made his debut for the Super Eagles in August 2015, has 71 caps with the team.

Injury ruled him out of last year’s delayed 2023 AFCON in Cote d’Ivoire.
