Nigerian Navy inaugurates community development projects in Nembe, Bayelsa

BAYELSA – The Nigerian Navy on Thursday inaugurated a range of infrastructure projects in Nembe Community, Nembe Local Government Area (LGA)of Bayelsa.

Reports that the projects are part of the Chief of Naval Staff’s Special Intervention Quick Impact Project Scheme.

Some of the projects included, the installation of a 10KVA inverter system, 12,000-watt solar panels, and a 20KWH lithium battery, aimed at providing sustainable electricity.

Also inaugurated were a 10,000-litre portable water facility, and the renovation, furnishing, and equipping of critical units in the Community Health Centre, including the maternity ward, lab, antenatal, labour, and pharmacy departments.

Rear Adm. Baratuaipri Iyalla, an indigene of Nembe and project facilitator, described the initiative as part of the Navy’s corporate social responsibility to host communities.

He underscored the Navy’s commitment to improving health infrastructure and public utilities, noting that similar interventions had been carried out nationwide.

The Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Adm. Emmanuel Ikechukwu Ogalla,  was represented by Rear Adm. Noel Madugu, Commander of Joint Task Force Operation Delta Safe.

Ogalla highlighted the Navy’s role in national development through civil-military cooperation, which aligned with the Federal Government’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

Gov. Douye Diri of Bayelsa, represented by Brig.-Gen. Eric Angaye(rtd), praised the Navy’s support, urging the community to maintain and protect the facilities for long-term benefit.

Nembe LGA Chairman, Mr David Alagoa, also expressed gratitude, describing the intervention as a vote of trust in the community’s future.(NAN)
