BAUCHI (PRECISE POST) – The Hajiya Hauwa Duguri, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) have thrown their weight behind Governor Mohammed Bala of Bauchi State and his recent remarks against President Tinubu-led Federal Government’s controversial tax reforms and other policies.
Precise Post recalls that Governor Bala had while reacting to the President Bola Tinubu’s tax reform bills sent to the National Assembly, said he should withdraw it for more engagement and consultation for the buying in of the people or he will see their true colour.
In an earlier reaction, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Public Communication, Mr Sunday Dare, said the governor’s stance neither reflects the attitude of the North towards the Tax Reforms bill nor the constructive dialogue needed between states and the FG.
“His energy might be better directed toward implementing effective poverty alleviation programmes and ensuring transparent utilisation of these federal resources [N144bn received from FG]. The Tax Reform Act and increased federal allocations significantly benefit the states,” said Dare.
The Bauchi Governor who informed of the Group’s support when he took to his official X account said;
“During a condolence visit over the loss of my stepmother, Hajiya Hauwa Duguri, the Coalition of Northern Groups (CNG) expressed their support for my recent remarks on the Federal Government’s controversial tax reforms and other policies. They affirmed that my statements reflect the genuine concerns of northerners, who bear the brunt of these economic measures.
“The CNG condemned the presidency’s threats against me, describing them as unwarranted and dismissive of legitimate democratic discourse. Instead, they urged President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to prioritize addressing the nation’s pressing economic and security challenges over personal attacks.
“I deeply appreciate this show of solidarity and remain committed to advocating for the welfare of my people. My administration will continue to tackle the challenges facing Bauchi State and the Northern region with unwavering resolve.”
