Defending champions Rangers International maintained their lead at the top of the Nigeria Premier Football League (NPFL) table with a 3-1 victory over Abia Warriors at the Awka City Stadium.
Experienced striker Godwin Obaje gave the Flying Antelopes the lead eight minutes before half-time, before Chidiebere Nwobodo doubled the advantage four minutes after the restart.
Abia Warriors pulled one back from the spot in the 53rd minute through Emeka Obioma, but substitute Akorode Daniel sealed the win for Rangers in stoppage time.
In Aba, nine-time champions Enyimba continued their resurgence with a 2-0 home win over 10-man Plateau United. Ifeanyi Ihemekwele and Richard Ezinna were on target for the People’s Elephant.
In Port Harcourt, Rivers United kept their unbeaten start intact under Finidi George, beating Ikorodu City 2-0. Samson Olasupo opened scoring in the 19th minute, before Chinemerem Ugwueze doubled the lead in first-half added time.
At the Pantami Stadium, Joshua Abbah’s lone strike earned Doma United a 1-0 win over Warri Wolves.
At the Mobolaji Johnson Arena, Onikan, Inter Lagos and Katsina United shared the spoils in a 1-1 draw. Nura Abdulbari put Katsina ahead in the 34th minute, but Kevwe Iyede levelled for the hosts three minutes before the break.
Kwara United came from behind to beat Ranchers Bees 2-1 in Ilorin. Jamilu Yusuf gave the visitors a 7th-minute lead, but Toheeb Gidado equalised five minutes into the second half before Stephen Gideon completed the turnaround in the 77th minute.
Meanwhile, Shooting Stars were held to a 1-1 draw by Nasarawa United at the Lekan Salami Stadium, Ibadan.
