ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Director-General of the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Dr Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has taken the global conversation on trade and economic resilience to Norway, delivering a keynote address at the annual NHO Business Conference attended by more than 1,400 participants.
Speaking in the snowy Norwegian capital, Okonjo-Iweala addressed business leaders drawn from large corporations and small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) on the theme, “Navigating Trade in a Changing World.” She highlighted the rapidly evolving global trade environment, shaped by geopolitical tensions, supply chain disruptions, climate concerns and shifting economic alliances.
The former Nigerian finance minister urged businesses to embrace adaptability, innovation and multilateral cooperation to survive and thrive amid growing uncertainty in global markets.
Beyond her keynote address, Okonjo-Iweala also participated in a high-level panel discussion alongside Børge Brende, Chief Executive Officer of the World Economic Forum and former Foreign Minister of Norway, and Poland’s Finance Minister, Andrzej Domański.
The panel tackled pressing global trade challenges and explored emerging opportunities for Norwegian businesses within the changing international economic order, focusing on how countries and enterprises can remain competitive while navigating protectionism, fragmentation and policy shifts.
