Pakistan flooding: ‘Make good your funding Pledges’ – Guterres urges donors, International financial institutions

Secretary General of United Nations (UN), Antonio Guterres has charged donors and international financial institutions to make good on their funding pledges made after apocalyptic flooding submerged a third of Pakistan in support of recovery efforts as soon as possible.

Guterres who made the call via X (formerly known as Twitter), said he will never forget the climate-related carnage he saw.

The UN Scribe who took to X said:

“I will never forget the climate-related carnage I saw after apocalyptic flooding submerged a third of Pakistan.”

“I call on donors & international financial institutions to make good on their funding pledges in support of recovery efforts as soon as possible.”

Precise Post recalls that Guterres is a Portuguese politician and diplomat. who since 2017, has served as secretary-general of the United Nations.

He is the ninth person to hold this title as well as a member of the Portuguese Socialist Party, Guterres served as prime minister.
