Following the judgement of the Supreme Court to uphold the victory of President Tinubu in the presidential election, Dr. Olisa Agbakoba has said that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), is the main culprit in the election because it didn’t conduct a free and fair election.
Agbakoba therefore praised Peter Obi and Atiku Abubakar because 90% of their petitions were against INEC.
Speaking in an interview with Arise TV, Agbakoba stated that INEC promised to transmit results electronically but turned around to claim the manual method of conducting the election.
According to him, “The main culprit in all of this is INEC. Actually, I must salute both Peter Obi, Atiku, and all the petitioners because a lot of their allegations—at least 90% of their allegations—in respect of the petitions was against INEC, bungling the entire thing, lying to us that the elections would be electronic when they didn’t do it; they turned around and said it was manual and that there’s no law compelling them to do it electronically, which is true, so I think what you ask is pertinent. We don’t want this to repeat again in 2027.”
