ABUJA – The Police Command in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) has embarked on an environmental sanitation exercise in Abuja as part of activities lined up for the 2026 National Police Day.
Speaking to newsmen on Monday in Abuja, the Commissioner of Police in charge of the FCT, Mr Ahmed Sanusi, said the command had also organised a free medical outreach.
He said the sanitation exercise and the free medical outreach were part of efforts by the command to enhance community engagement in the territory.
Sanusi said the week-long activities would in the end culminate into the actual National Police Day, slated for April 7.
He said the activities were in line with the directive of the I-G for Police Commands nationwide to embark on environmental sanitation and medical outreaches to mark the 2026 National Police Day.
Sanusi said the idea was to impact the communities and make them understand that the police are part of the community.
“The idea is for them to know that we are part of them, that we can also do what they are doing and for them to know that we are ready to serve them.
“It is also for the communities to know that we can be more friendly and attractive to each other.
“So, that is why we are out to clean up the area and enlighten the public on the benefits of cleanliness,” he said. (NAN)
