Otunba Emmanuel Fayose, a frontline Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) governorship hopeful and younger brother of former Ekiti State governor Ayodele Fayose, has officially dumped the party, alleging betrayal at the top.
Speaking at a press conference in Abuja on Thursday, Fayose declared that both he and his loyal supporters could no longer remain in a party “captured by selfish interests.”
“This decision wasn’t easy, but we can’t keep pretending. The PDP leadership has compromised the 2026 primaries. Any candidate they produce under this sham process may not even get INEC recognition,” he said.
Fayose accused Acting National Chairman Ambassador Iliya Damagum and National Secretary Senator Samuel Anyanwu of “working hand in glove with the APC to destroy the PDP from within.”
The younger Fayose stopped short of naming his next political platform but hinted that talks with key allies are underway.
“To my supporters across Ekiti: stay calm. We are consulting widely. Very soon, we will announce a new direction that truly reflects the will of our people,” he promised.
His dramatic exit sets the stage for a heated 2026 Ekiti governorship race, with speculation already swirling about which party he’ll join next.
