Politics: Governing Imo state made me poorer – Okorocha Rochas

Abuja (Precise Post) – The Former governor Imo state, Senator Rochas Okorocha ,who now represents Imo West APC senatorial district, has come out to clear the air waves on the issues surrounding the management of the state fund when he was governor of Imo state .

The Law maker who has in recent times been invited by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, the anti-graft agency saddled with its statutory responsibility of prosecuting fraudulent practices of public office holders among others.

In the suspected bid of the Law maker for the upcoming presidential election in 2023, Owelle Rochas Okorocha has not been in the favor list of wrong media representation of corrupt politicians without concrete evidences and proven facts.

In a media interview as a guest on Channels TV Sunday politics, Owelle Rochas explained that for his eight years in governing Imo state , he became more poorer as a governor, he explained “I think people have forgotten that I was Rochas before I became a governor of Imo state ,I think they have forgotten completely.

If anything, becoming a governor made me even poorer than what I was in the past, I don’t know whether I acquired any property here in Abuja. There is none.

I challenge anybody to proof that I acquired any property with any government fund.

There is no way I would have stolen funds because the monthly allocation of the state was small.” He said.

In his two terms as governor he explained that he built the best Police State Command and International Cargo Airport in the country, a new Government House, 27 Hospitals, New Prison, among others, he dared anyone to come with evidences of his mismanagement of government funds while he was governor for eight years in Imo state.

On the issues of his recent invitation and arrest by the EFCC, the senator explained “I said to them that I have not come to respond to your call because there is already a matter in court and once a matter is sub judice, you cannot talk about it.
Imo state government has taken me to court on the same subject matter and we at the Federal High Court in Abuja on the same subject matter,
EFCC is doing their job because if there is no report they can’t nose into whatever you are doing, EFCC is not witch-hunting, and they are acting on a petition being written by somebody” he further stated.
