Three days of non-stop rain has turned Port Harcourt into a river — and residents are crying for help.
From New G.R.A to Odili Road, Eliozu, Eneka, Rukpokwu, SARS Road, Ozuoba and Aba Expressway, floodwater has taken over everything.
Homes Flooded, Cars Gone, Weddings Ruined
Videos going viral right now show water ABOVE THE WAIST. Residents are seen carrying their belongings on their heads, scooping water out of their living rooms with buckets.
Flood destroys expensive cars in Port Harcourt 💔
In Eneka and Chiomana Street, Rukpokwu, water has entered homes. Vehicles are completely submerged. Electric poles destroyed.
At the weekend, wedding guests were left stranded after floodwater submerged a reception venue.
Heaps of refuse and sewage are now floating on the water — residents fear disease outbreak.
Why Is This Happening?
Locals blame:
– Poor town planning
– Blocked drainages and natural waterways
– Indiscriminate dumping of refuse
– Building on natural spillways
As of now, Rivers State Government is yet to release any official statement.
