ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Presidency on Saturday denied reports making rounds about the removal of Senator George Akume as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), describing them as false and misleading.
In a statement released on X handle, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, clarified that there has been no change in Akume’s position.
He highlighted that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is currently on a visit to Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments to the SGF office.
“The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it,” the statement read.
The statement titled: “Akume remains SGF” reads in part:
There has been no change in the status of His Excellency, Senator George Akume, as Secretary to the Government of the Federation.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, currently in Saint Lucia, has not made any new appointments.
The information circulating about Akume’s replacement is untrue. Agents of mischief fabricated it.
The Presidency advises Nigerians to disregard the fake news.
However, Precise Post wishes to state that with the resignation of the National Chairman of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje, some key party and political appointments may be altered to reposition and reflect the aspirations of the party ahead of the 2027 general elections.
