ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – A new privately owned radio station, Ajagunnla Radio 101.1 FM, has commenced test transmission in Ila Orangun, Osun State, marking a significant development in the region’s media landscape.
The station, valued at over ₦350 million, is an initiative of Senator Olubiyi Abdulazeez Fadeyi, popularly known as Ajagunnla Oodua ti Ile Yoruba. It is fully funded by the Senator and not a constituency project, contrary to earlier public speculation.
Located in Ila Orangun, Ajagunnla FM is designed as a commercial broadcasting platform aimed at delivering news, entertainment, and essential information to residents across Osun State and beyond.
Installation of state-of-the-art broadcasting equipment is nearing completion, with ongoing technical tests already in progress. The station currently broadcasts daily test transmissions from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon.
In a statement issued by the Special Adviser on Digital Media and Publicity, Bashorun Adekanola Desmond, the project was described as the realization of a long-standing vision by Senator Fadeyi to improve access to credible and people-oriented information.
According to the statement, the station is expected to enhance communication within Osun Central Senatorial District while contributing to broader socio-economic development in the state.
Ajagunnla FM is also projected to create employment opportunities, support small and medium-scale enterprises, and promote the cultural heritage of the Igbomina people.
Desmond noted that the station is intended to serve as a unifying platform and a lasting legacy for the region, fostering cultural preservation and community development.
Upon full commencement of operations, Ajagunnla Radio 101.1 FM is expected to offer a wide range of programmes tailored to diverse audiences, positioning itself as a key player in community broadcasting in Osun State.
