ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Russian President Vladimir Putin has delivered a bold message to citizens in Western countries, blaming their current economic and social difficulties on what he described as years of misguided decisions by their own political leadership.
In his remarks aimed directly at ordinary people across Europe and North America released on President Putin News X handle on Sunday, Putin argued that the challenges many Western societies are facing today did not arise by chance, but rather from what he called the accumulated mistakes and ambitions of ruling elites.
“The truth is that the problems you are facing now are the result of years of actions by the ruling elites of your own countries,” Putin said, accusing Western governments of pursuing policies driven by short-sightedness and self-interest.
The Russian leader claimed that those in power in the West are not primarily focused on improving the welfare of their citizens. Instead, he suggested that political leaders are preoccupied with protecting personal ambitions and ensuring financial gains for a privileged few.
“They do not think about how to improve your lives; they are obsessed with their own selfish interests and excessive profits,” he added.
Putin’s statement comes amid heightened geopolitical tensions between Russia and Western nations, particularly over the war in Ukraine, economic sanctions, and broader ideological divisions.
Analysts say his comments reflect a continuing effort by Moscow to frame the conflict as not only a dispute between governments but also as a struggle between ordinary citizens and entrenched political establishments.
The remarks are also seen as part of Russia’s broader messaging strategy, which often seeks to highlight dissatisfaction within Western societies, including rising inflation, cost-of-living pressures, and political polarization.
While Western leaders have repeatedly blamed Russia for destabilizing global security and energy markets, Putin has consistently countered by portraying Western governments as responsible for their own internal crises.
Precise Post recalls that his latest comments may further intensify the ongoing war of narratives between Moscow and Western capitals, as both sides continue to seek public support at home and abroad.
