The Speaker of Taraba State House of Assembly, Professor Joseph Albasu Kunini has described the late Monarch of England Queen Elizabeth who died on Thursday as a true leader who had the interest of Africans at heart.
In a condolence message issued in Jalingo on Friday, Kunini said that the role of the late Queen in ensuring decolonization of African countries including Nigeria remains to be valued at all times.
He described her as a woman of great humility and sensitive to her environment.
“I received the news of the Queen’s death with sadness in my heart. The Queen was not just a monarch but she literally became the symbol of Britain and indeed, the Commonwealth. For many people, Britain without a Queen Elizabeth the second is unfathomable.
“For over Seven decades, she played her motherly role on issues of global significance without exaggerated presence and show of relevance. Despite being one of the most powerful humans of her time, her humility was so apparent.
“Her exemplary commitment to leadership, ability to rally people from diverse background and ideologies for common cause will be greatly missed. Sadly, the Queen has gone to rest just when it is obvious that the world need her subtle motherly counsel to tackle global issues the most. She will be missed deeply” the statement read in parts.
He further prayed that God would grant eternal rest to her soul and urged “the immediate family, the British nation and people all over the world to learn from her exceptionally impacting life and do things that would ensure her legacies live on even in death”.
The Buckingham palace announced Thursday afternoon that the Queen died peacefully at Balmoral at the age of ninety six after serving for over seventy years.
