ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The House of Representatives will on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, hold a rare Special Plenary Session dedicated entirely to assessing Nigeria’s worsening security situation and strengthening the legislature’s response to emerging threats.
According to a statement issued on Monday in Abuja by the House Spokesman, Rep. Akin Rotimi, the session, which will be presided over by Speaker Abbas Tajudeen, PhD, GCON, will feature critical briefings from key security-related committees, including Defence; National Security and Intelligence; Police Affairs; Interior; and Emergency and Disaster Preparedness.
Regional and Zonal Caucus Leaders are also expected to present structured updates on security developments across the six geopolitical zones, providing a panoramic view of the challenges confronting the country.
The Special Session will allow lawmakers to reflect on realities confronting their constituencies, contribute to a national dialogue on security, and shape a unified legislative position.
Proceedings are expected to culminate in the adoption of a comprehensive Security Resolution outlining coordinated legislative actions and oversight priorities.
In line with the 10th Assembly’s commitment to transparency and public trust, the plenary will be broadcast live on the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and streamed on the official Facebook page of the House of Representatives (@HouseNGR).
“The House remains resolute in its duty to promote unity, faith, peace and progress in the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” the statement added.
