ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Anambra State Governor, Prof. Chukwuma Soludo, has sworn in the newly elected mayors and deputy mayors of the state’s 21 Local Government Areas, charging them to prioritise service, accountability and grassroots development.
Soludo, who disclosed this in a statement posted on his official X handle on Saturday, said the new local government leaders must see their positions as a call to service rather than an avenue for personal ambition.
The governor congratulated the newly elected mayors and their deputies on their emergence, while reminding them of the weight of responsibility that comes with public office.
According to him, leadership requires “stewardship, sacrifice, and measurable results,” stressing that public office is a solemn trust that must be exercised with a deep sense of duty.
He urged the local government leaders to take the state’s development agenda closer to the people by governing with purpose and humility.
“The expectations are high, but even greater is the opportunity before them,” Soludo said.
He charged the new council leaders to use their tenure to bring governance closer to the grassroots, improve the lives of residents and create a lasting legacy through tangible development.
“This is their moment to bring governance closer to the grassroots, touch lives in meaningful ways, and leave behind a legacy defined by service, impact, and enduring progress,” he said.
The governor expressed optimism that the new leadership at the local government level would contribute to the continued development of Anambra State.
“May Anambra continue to win!” Soludo added.
