ADO EKITI- The South-West leaders of the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union(RATTAWU) comprising Chairmen and Secretaries of the union on Saturday endorsed Comrade Dare Durosimi for National President.
The union made this known in a statement jointly signed by Comrade Kehinde Ogidi, Secretary, Ekiti State Council, and Comrade Kehinde Layade, Secretary, Oyo State Council, in Ado-Ekiti.
The News Agency of Nigeria(NAN) reports that Durosimi was a former Chairman of the Lagos State Council, and the present Vice-President, South-West Zone of the union.
The leadership of the union during the South-West zonal meeting condemned the growing decline in solidarity and comradeship among members.
The union urged members to reawaken the spirit of love to promote the union’s unity and commitment in the zone.
“The South-West leadership of RATTAWU, comprising of chairmen and secretaries of the union during the South-West zonal meeting unanimously endorsed Comrade Dare Durosimi for National President.
“Comrade Durosimi is a committed, passionate and transparent leader, whose leadership qualities is exceptional and worthy of emulation.
“The union condemns the growing decline in solidarity and comradeship among members, it urged members to embrace spirit of love to promote the development of the union.
“The zonal leadership commends the Ekiti State government for its various efforts in promoting industrial harmony among Ekiti workforce through responsiveness to the welfare and needs of the workers.
“The union thanked Governor Biodun Oyebanji for showing commitment towards creating a conducive work environment for workers in Ekiti State Broadcasting Service by connecting it to Independent Power Project(IPP),” the union leaders said.
The leadership of the union commended the state government for the construction of the International Centre for Arts and Culture(ICAC) to further promote the development of arts and culture, create jobs and promote creativity and talents development.
The union leaders, however appealed to the state government to implement the long approved weigh-in allowance for the state media and culture workers in line with what their counterparts in the Federal Government media and culture establishment have been enjoying. (NAN)
