KATSINA- The wife of the Speaker, Katsina State House of Assembly, Hajiya Safa Nasir, has distributed empowerment support items valued N30 million to no fewer than 1,300 women in Daura.
Speaking at the event in Daura, Nasir said that the beneficiaries were chosen across the 185 polling units of Daura Local Government Area.
She said that the gesture was to create opportunities for women in the area to become self-reliant and contribute towards family growth.
“As women, we should position ourselves to support our husbands in taking care of the family, that is what this gesture targets to achieve,” she said.
The speaker’s wife who distributed cash, food items and tools for small-scale businesses, urged the women to made judicious use of the support package.
In her remark, the wife of Katsina State Governor, Hajiya Zulaihat Radda, commended the speaker’s wife for undertaking the empowerment programmme.
She said that the gesture would promote women participation in family upkeep, saying,” as women, we are stakeholders in the family, we must play our own roles”
“I commend the speaker’s wife for this initiative, it shows how foresighted she is, and how concerned she is about the welfare of families,” she said.(NAN)
