ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Aviation Minister Femi Fani-Kayode has lambasted a group identifying itself as the Arewa Consultative Youth Movement for demanding that the Chairman of the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS), Zach Adedeji, “step aside” over alleged “unconstitutional activities.”
In a fiery statement posted on X, Fani-Kayode dismissed the group as “faceless,” insisting it neither represents the Arewa region nor any credible youth constituency.
He said that in his 23 years of engaging with northern groups and leaders, he had never heard of the organisation.
Describing the allegations against Adedeji as baseless, Fani-Kayode praised the FIRS boss as “one of the current administration’s brightest stars” and lauded the sweeping tax reforms executed under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s government.
He argued that the call for Adedeji’s removal was “unjust, absurd, and clearly intended to distract” from the administration’s progress in sanitising the tax sector.
FFK further alleged that the advert, signed by one Kabiru Yusuf, was a sponsored attack by opposition elements “nervous about the great successes of this administration.”
He also mocked the group for misspelling Adedeji’s name as “Zak,” saying such an error underscored their lack of seriousness. “Someone please help them… ‘Zach’ is short for ‘Zachariah’ and is spelt with an ‘h,’” he wrote, adding that proper spelling should be “the starting point of their re-education.”
Fani-Kayode urged Adedeji and his team to remain focused, saying only “trees with good fruits” attract stones.
He dismissed the group’s demands as “infantile” and “nonsensical,” adding that no right-thinking person would take them seriously.
Precise Post recalls that Fani-Kayode had on Thursday, spoken in similar defence for the Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle, @Bellomatawalle1 who came under severe attach for alleged link with bandits terrorising Nigerians shortly after the reported resignation of his boss – Minister of Defence, Mohammed Badaru.
FFK who took to his X handle in defence of Matawalle said among others: “I find the vicious media campaign that has been orchestrated by the opposition against the Minister of State for Defence, @Bellomatawalle1, shameless and nauseating.
“I say this given the fact the fact that this man has shown more loyalty to @officialABAT and more commitment to the war against the terrorists than virtually anyone else since assuming office.”
“The combination of him and NSA @NuhuRibadu, has resulted in the killing of more terrorists in the last two years than in the previous 8 put together.”
