The leadership crisis in the Adamawa chapter of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) deepened yesterday as former Vice President Atiku Abubakar endorsed Shehu Yohanna as the Acting/Interim Chairman of the party in the state, a decision contested by the party’s national vice chairman, Babachir Lawal.
In a statement signed by Paul Ibe of Atiku’s media office, the former Vice President called on all ADC stakeholders in Adamawa to operate under the leadership of Yohanna. Atiku also endorsed the Sadiq Dasin-led Transition Team, urging collaboration with Yohanna’s state executive committee to strengthen the party’s presence in the state.
Atiku praised the closure of all legal disputes among key actors in Adamawa, saying: “I am particularly elated that we, in the Adamawa ADC family, are ending the year on a very positive note with the resolution of all extant issues. No house divided against itself can stand.” He encouraged both the Yohanna-led exco and the Dasin Transition Team to work together to establish ADC as a leading political party in the state.
He added that, in line with directives from the Sen. David Mark-led national executive, there would be zero tolerance for indiscipline or insubordination within the party.
Reacting, former SGF Babachir Lawal, who serves as ADC’s national vice chairman (North East), rejected Atiku’s endorsement, citing a court ruling that, in his view, stripped Yohanna of his chairmanship.
“The court has ruled that Yohanna is not the chairman of ADC Adamawa State. I am not an appeal court, so I have no say beyond that,” Babachir toldDaily Trust.
“I stand by the court’s decision. Paul Ibe can appoint one for himself if he likes, but I adhere to the legal ruling,” he added.
Former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar’s bloc within the African Democratic Party (ADC) has begun searching for a southern politician to serve as his running mate in the 2027 presidential election.
According to Sunday Punch, the bloc had narrowed its focus to Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party candidate.
There are indications that if Obi declines the offer, Atiku would consider former Rivers State governor, Rotimi Amaechi.
Momodu described Atiku and Obi as the two figures capable of delivering the strongest alliance Nigeria has seen since the 2019 election.
Speaking with Punch, Atiku’s political friend, veteran journalist Dele Momodu, publicly urged Obi to join Atiku in forming a strong opposition pact to dislodge the ruling party.
Recall that Atiku and Obi previously ran on the joint People’s Democratic Party (PDP) ticket in 2019, but lost to then-incumbent President Muhammadu Buhari.
Momodu expressed frustration over what he described as public pushback from Obi’s supporters, whom he blamed for the reluctance to finalise the prospective match-up ahead of 2027.
He said, “That is why they are trying to make every party have only southern candidates. They don’t want any strong opposition from the opposite direction (North). There is no way any Southern candidate can defeat Tinubu.
“I have said this to Peter Obi. We have met several times at my houses in Lagos and Ghana. If Peter Obi does not take advantage of a ready-made union between him and Atiku, it would be very unfortunate. It would be as good as working for Tinubu to come back.”
Warning that delay could cost Obi a significant political opportunity, Momodu said Atiku may settle for Amaechi as his running mate.
He said, “A lot of people are underrating Amaechi. Amaechi single-handedly handed power to Buhari. What the Federal Capital Territory Minister, Nyesom Wike, is doing now, though in an unruly manner, Amaechi did quite well when he was governor of Rivers State. Amaechi mobilised more than any other person for Buhari, even more than Tinubu. If Obi does not make up his mind or chooses to run alone, then I believe the mantle might fall on Rotimi Amaechi.”
On efforts to reconcile both men politically, Momodu said, “I have told Obi. There is no time.
“The person you want to dislodge is already the President. He has everything. He is either coercing or cajoling the governors and senators to join him. He wants to present a false alibi that everybody loves him. He knows what he is doing.
“He wants to create a false image of someone who cannot be defeated, so that when they succeed at doing their manipulation, they will say, ‘What did you expect?’
“Despite all their shenanigans in 2023, they lost Lagos to Obi. They lost Osun to Gov Ademola Adeleke. Obi needs to make up his mind. For now, I don’t know his party. PDP is crumbling, LP has crumbled. Where does he want to go?”
The African Democratic Congress has explained the absence of former Vice President Atiku Abubakar and former Anambra State governor, Peter Obi, at the unveiling of its new secretariat in Abuja on November 17.
The party dismissed reports suggesting that Obi snubbed the leadership because the secretariat was formerly Atiku’s campaign office.
While the ADC National Chairman, David Mark; the party’s National Secretary, Rauf Aregbesola; and former Kaduna State governor, Nasir El-Rufai, attended the unveiling, both Obi and Atiku were absent and did not issue any formal statement.
Mark described the new secretariat as a reflection of the coalition’s ambition to reshape Nigeria’s political future.
“It is a physical testament to our collective resolve to build a greater nation. This ADC coalition is a historic child of necessity, inspired by people’s desire for good governance, greater accountability, and a stronger democracy,” he said.
Obi’s absence had been widely interpreted as a rejection of the secretariat because of its previous link to Atiku. But the ADC National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi, dismissed the insinuation, insisting Obi remained committed to the coalition.
Abdullahi explained that Obi was out of the country during the event, while Atiku was unavailable due to other engagements.
He said, “The programme was impromptu; most of the party leaders were not in attendance. Obi was out of the country, and Atiku wasn’t available.
Similarly, the former campaign spokesman and National Coordinator of the Obidient Movement Worldwide, Yunusa Tanko, dismissed speculation that Obi was planning to dump the ADC.
He said Obi was only taking time to make the “right decision” before publicly declaring his next political move.
“No, Obi is not abandoning the ADC coalition. I don’t know where that speculation is coming from. He will make a statement soon because he needs to get it right now that a lot of people are showing interest in him,” he said.
Tanko explained that Obi was being deliberate about his political future, stressing that the former Anambra governor would not allow himself to be cornered.
“He doesn’t want to be in a place where he will feel trapped. So he needs to be extremely careful where he gets his ticket.
“Our hope is that since the presidency is the turn of a southern candidate, the ADC will be looking to give him the ticket.”
According to him, Obi’s timetable has not changed.
“Already, he said he would make his intention known after the Anambra election. And he will do it at the appropriate time. He shouldn’t be pressured,” he added.
The National Vice Chairman (South-East) of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Ijeoma Arodiogbu, has dismissed speculations that former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the leader of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP), Rabiu kwankwaso will form an alliance.
Speaking with Punch, Arodiogbu expressed confidence that Kwankwaso would join the ruling party instead of joining forces with Atiku.
His statement follows renewed speculation triggered by Atiku’s public show of camaraderie during Kwankwaso’s 69th birthday celebrations two weeks ago.
“Kwankwaso is an experienced politician, and we believe strongly that he will be able to bring that experience to bear if he makes the right decision.
“We believe it will be to the best of his advantage to join the APC. If that (rejoining the APC) ever happens, it will be done as soon as possible. Most of these defections are expected to take place before the end of this year.
When asked if Atiku might have hypothetically offered Kwankwaso a more attractive deal than President Bola Tinubu, Arodiogbu reacted sharply.
He said, “Will he now decamp to join Atiku in whatever party he is? There is no way Atiku can offer him anything meaningful. Even Kwankwaso knows this.
“As an experienced politician, he knows that Atiku has reached the end of his political road. The problem with many people, not just politicians, is that they don’t know when to stop. In every race, there is a stopping point; anything beyond that is a waste of energy.
“So, some politicians have reached their cross-line, and the best thing to do is to stop, especially with people like Atiku. I see Atiku as a man galloping on a two-legged horse. He is no different from a boy drawing a car in the sand with his finger and trying to drive it. Is he going anywhere? That’s how I see Atiku. Kwankwaso is wiser than that and wouldn’t take such a step.”

ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has reaffirmed his commitment to defending the rights of Nigerians allegedly facing harassment under the Tinubu-led All Progressives Congress (APC) federal government.
Disclosing this on his X handle on Monday shortly after meeting with Senator Aminu Waziri Tambuwal and former Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Atiku described the current administration as an “emerging dictatorship,” pledging that efforts to safeguard democratic values in the country will be intensified.
“We will be unrelenting in defending the rights of every Nigerian being harassed by anti-democratic forces of the Tinubu-led APC administration,” Atiku stated.
He further emphasized that the coalition currently being mobilized is geared towards “rescuing our democracy from the stranglehold” of authoritarian tendencies, adding that all efforts will be deliberate and strategic in the quest to protect Nigeria’s democratic institutions.
The meeting comes amid growing concerns from opposition leaders over what they describe as shrinking civic space and increasing political intimidation under the current government.
Precise Post recalls that in August 2025, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) invited formerly governor of Sokoto State, and now serving senator – Senator Aminu Tambuwal for questioning over alleged fraudulent cash withdrawals totaling ₦189 billion between 2015 and 2021, in violation of the Money Laundering (Prevention & Prohibition) Act, 2022 .
The EFCC’s financial profiling showed that accounts—including the FAAC, Government House, and Secretary to the State Government, received cumulative inflows of ₦567.16 billion, of which about ₦189.16 billion were allegedly diverted to individuals, companies, and government officials . Some cashiers and government officials have been identified as other suspects in the probe.
Tambuwal was detained at EFCC custody in Abuja starting August 11, 2025, and spent over 24 hours in custody before being granted administrative bail on August 12. As part of the bail terms, his passport was seized .
In statements after his release, Tambuwal denied wrongdoing, calling the EFCC allegations politically motivated, and claimed his appearances at EFCC were voluntary. He appealed to be released on self-recognition based on his public service record, though stricter bail requirements were imposed instead .
The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and the African Democratic Congress (ADC) both condemned the EFCC action as selective and politically driven, aimed at dismantling opposition ahead of the 2027 elections.

Dear Atiku Abubakar, the 2023 election was a setback, but the political landscape is shifting in your favor as Tinubu’s missteps echo Matawalle’s errors. Nigerians are frustrated with the APC’s governance, and 2027 presents a golden opportunity to earn their trust. Your long-standing commitment to public service, economic liberalization advocacy, and pan-Nigerian vision position you as a credible alternative, but you must continue building goodwill through principled leadership.

Engage actively with citizens, particularly the youth, who’re ready to drive the 2027 surge and are disillusioned with the status quo. Leverage platforms like X to amplify your message, addressing concerns about inflation, unemployment, and insecurity. Your experience as Vice President (1999–2007), during which Nigeria saw economic reforms and debt relief, will resonate with voters seeking stability.
Zamfara people rejected Matawalle for neglecting their needs, and Nigerians would surely do the same to Tinubu. By staying focused on earning the people’s trust, 2027 will indeed be your time to lead Nigeria toward a brighter future.

ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The Presidency on Wednesday reacted to the defection by the Governor of Delta State, Rt Hon. Sheriff Francis Oborevwori from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), bragging that almost all opposition members will join in the coming days, including a former vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election.
Precise Post recalls that Oborevwori’s defection was revealed on Wednesday after a closed-door meeting at the Government House in Asaba.
Announcing the defection in Asaba on Wednesday, Senator James Manager, who addressed the press after a meeting of the PDP stakeholders in Government House, said a formal declaration would be made on Monday.
He said that the governor’s defection to the ruling party was for the interest and the overall development of Delta state.
According to Manager, the entire PDP structures in the state had been collapsed to the APC. Given the current development, Delta State is now an APC state.
The Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Policy Communication, Daniel Bwala who took to his verified X account to react said: “Delta in the bag, almost all opposition members are coming, including a former vice presidential candidate in the 2023 election.”
Bwala who made a mockery of the planned coalition of opposition parties, described it as a coalition of confusion, stressing that they have not seen anything yet. He highlighted that a former presidential candidate in the 2023 presidential election is warming up as well to join.

“There are only two political parties in Nigeria; APC and others,” Bwala added.

Shortly after a high-level closed-door meeting held at the Government House in Asaba on Wednesday, Senator James Manager stated that; “All PDP members in the state, including the governor, former Governor Okowa, the Speaker, the state party chairman, all the local government chairmen and others, have agreed to move to the APC.
“We cannot continue to be in a sinking boat.”
Recall that former Governor Okowa was the Vice Presidential candidate to Atiku Abubakar of the PDP in the 2023 general election .
Former presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, ex-Governor of Kaduna State, Nasir El-Rufai; and ex-Sokoto State governor, Aminu Tambuwal, have visited former President Muhammadu Buhari at his Kaduna residence.
According to a video seen by our correspondent on X, other politicians who visited Buhari on Friday included the former Minister of Communications, Isa Pantami; former governor of Imo State, Achike Udenwa; former governor of Benue State, Senator Gabriel Suswam; and former Governor of Adamawa State, Jibrilla Bindow, among others.
Atiku, who took to his verified X handle on Friday to disclose the visit, described it as a “wonderful time” with the former President.
He wrote, “As the Waziri Adamawa, I was obligated to be in Adamawa during the Sallah celebrations. I held forth for the Lamido Fombina (Adamawa) in some of the activities of the Sallah celebrations.
“Today, I had the opportunity to pay a post-Sallah visit to His Excellency Muhammadu Buhari, President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 2015-2023.
“It was a wonderful time with him. As usual, he cracked me up (to the extent that my ribs were hurting) with his peculiar humour.”
The former Vice President, however, did not disclose the details of the meeting’s agenda and its outcome.

ABUJA (PRECISE POST) – The rising insecurity in Nigeria under the leadership of President Bola Tinubu has sparked criticisms from former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar and the Labour Party presidential candidate in the 2023 general election, Peter Obi.
Precise Post recalls that the criticisms are coming against the backdrop of the recent mindlless and senseless killings of innocent citizens that took place in five communities in Bokkos: Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai, all in Plateau State.
Atiku, who took to his X account to express his displeasure, highlighted that the failure of Tinubu’s security architecture has now become an endemic nationwide phenomenon with repeated killings, more of which do not even make the headlines.
According to him, Nigerians are now being forced to get used to such news of wanton killings, and I again offer my condolences to the bereaved communities of Bokkos Local Government Area of Plateau State and the affected families.
He therefore reiterated his counsel to the Tinubu-led FG to reconfigure its security architecture to meet the needs of protecting the lives and properties of our people.
Similarly, Peter Obi while reacting to the unforrunate incident in a statement titled: “An unending gory story in our land,” released on his X account, noted that in Nigeria today, communities now live in fear and no longer have a livelihood either in their farms or in their markets, without being killed, kidnapped, and maimed.

I woke up this morning reading about yet another gory and deeply distressing report from Bokkos, Plateau State. Entire families have again, been slaughtered in yet another senseless attack. Children and pregnant women were not spared.
Five communities in Bokkos: Mangor Tamiso, Daffo, Manguna, Hurti, and Tadai have been left in mourning, forced to bury their loved ones in mass graves.
How long will these killings, kidnapping, maiming and criminality continue in our nation that is not at war? How long must we wait to act decisively and focus on this drastic situation that is crippling our nation? How many more must die before the government act for the people?
We are now normalizing mass killings and mass burials as a way of life in our nation. Every Nigerian life is sacred, whether in Edo State, Benue, Enugu, Borno, Anambra, Ondo, or Plateau.
Communities now live in fear and no longer have a livelihood either in their farms or in their markets, without being killed, kidnapped, and maimed. Communities like Bokkos in Plateau, Jato-Aka in Benue, Eha-Amufu in Enugu, Ufuma in Anambra, and Aba Oyinbo in Ondo deserve government protection.
We must end this grief and terror, as this is becoming extremely unacceptable.
The government and security agencies must ensure that these killings are stopped, concrete steps are made to prevent future occurrences, and those arrested face the justice they deserve.
My heart goes to the people of Bokkos, and others in various communities.
No Nigerian should live in fear as the government must do what it takes to protect Nigerians.

My attention as a Public Affairs Commentator and Citizen of Wukari in Taraba State has been invited to various invectives of unprecedented dimension directed at His Excellency, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON by my brother, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar ostensibly to give oxygen to resurrect his endless political odyssey and sordid presidential ambition. I am weighing into this public narrative to interrogate various disruptions triggered by some notable politicians like Atiku Abubakar in our national life.
It is hardly possible to build anything out of frustration and bitterness. This is sadly the predicament of a one-time Vice President, Atiku Abubakar who is on course to being enlisted in the Guinness Book of Records, as the only person globally, who has unsuccessfully contested for President for six times spanning 33 years.
These bitterness and frustration have beclouded his reasoning. Atiku Abubakar, who is shamefully a dominant mention in every page of the corruption history in Nigeria, an insipid and serial sodomist, could have rather used the Ramadan period to seek for the atonement of his many mortal and monumental sins from the Almighty Allah, but his engagement in chicanery and unbridled umbrage in the most malicious and defamatory manner is the sad characterization of a man reputed for low family values and child abuse
The series of pernicious lies peddled by Atiku deserve response in this era of positive and innovative Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration, which has invited collective actions for the growth and prosperity of Nigeria. Atiku Abubakar’s putrid and repulsive corrupt practices have made Nigerians to reject him for a record six times. A master of failure indeed!
It is an established fact that Atiku Abubakar is the most corrupt Nigerian, having been associated with every high-profile corruption allegation in the country across the private and public sectors. In 1996, the then Head of State, Gen. Sani Abacha seized control of the NICOTES shares belonging to him and renamed it Integrated Logistics Services Inc.
In 2006, Atiku was indicted by the EFCC and the Federal Government Administrative Panel of Inquiry after a Special Audit /Forensic Investigation of PTDF from 1999 to May 31, 2006.
Internationally, he is known as a super conman. Atiku’s association with American Congressman William Jefferson, who was jailed for 13 years in 2009 over bribery and other charges is well known to millions of Nigerians.
For those who don’t know, Atiku was the subject of a probe about 15 years ago by the United States Senate Committee on Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs chaired by Senator Carl Levin. He was indicted for using offshore companies to siphon about 40 million dollars from Nigeria between 2000 and 2008 to his fourth wife in the United States, Jennifer Iwenjiora Douglas Abubakar (now divorced).
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo, whom Atiku served for 8 years as Vice President, in his book ’MY WATCH’, in the chapter, titled “Atiku and US Justice Entanglement”, gave a vivid account of “corrupt involvement” of Atiku with a company called iGATE and William Jefferson. Obasanjo equally linked Atiku to the embezzlement of $20 million, funds that were to be utilized by the Petroleum Technology Development Fund (PTDF), and another $125 million to fund PTDF during 2003 fiscal year.
The immediate past governor of Kaduna state, Mallam Nasir El-Rufai has also spoken eloquently about Atiku’s corrupt adventure. In his book, ’The Accidental Public Servant’, El-Rufai gave a detailed account of Atiku’s corrupt involvement in Ericsson’s deals, the PTDF scandal, Abuja Water Treatment Plant contract and his obsession with marabouts – these marabouts that have been deceiving him since 1991 that he will be president.
A serial women abuser, Atiku has divorced two of his wives since 1971 (Ladi and Jennifer). In the case of Jennifer, even after the divorce, he threatened and bullied her out of Nigeria. Jennifer had to sell her law chambers in Nigeria and relocated to the UK. He has been after the woman in an attempt to dispossess her of her assets and properties.
A certified child abuser, Atiku’s exploits with hapless boys and young men are well known. No wonder, in his eight years as vice president and many years as wealthy man (though filthy), Atiku could not boast of a school that could cater for the educational needs of the less privileged, especially boys (Almajiri’s), but now runs the exotic ABTI University and a host of other businesses that are out of the reach of the common man.
In the contrary, unlike Atiku Abubakar, Senator Godswill Akpabio, GCON has for over two decades, conducted himself with integrity and transparency. His accomplishments in Akwa Ibom State, in particular, and Nigeria in general, are symbolized in the countless legacies of infrastructure, human capacity development and tourists’ hub.
Just yesterday (Tuesday), the Super Eagles of Nigeria hosted The Warriors of Zimbabwe in a World Cup qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium, Uyo. The stadium, which is the only FIFA approved facility in Nigeria, was built by Akpabio as governor of the state. What did Atiku do for Adamawa state and Nigeria?
The Zimbabwean delegation also flew Ibom Air and landed at the Victor Attah International Airport, Uyo- all legacies of the Uncommon Transformer. But where are Atiku’s legacies for the people? He can only lay claim to a chain of businesses, which are products of pillaging and corrupt investments.
In all of these, it is crystal clear that Akpabio’s unflinching support for President Tinubu, who blocked Atiku’s emergence as the presidential candidate of the APC in 2015 and frustrated his return bid in 2019 and yet floored him in the 2023 general elections is the reason for Atiku’s hostile charge against the Senate President. But using Akpabio as a ladder to get to the president cannot do Atiku any good. Both Tinubu and Akpabio are united by the resolve to rejig and reset the nation and give Nigerians dividends of democracy, which Atiku as vice president worked tirelessly to undermine for personal aggrandizement.
It is also axiomatic that Atiku has started preparation for the 2027 general elections. As for Akpabio and Tinubu, they are preoccupied with state and governance issues and would not swim with the former vice president in his quest to distract the duo from delivering good governance to Nigerians. When 2027 comes, Nigerians will, for the umpteenth time give, Atiku a black eye and vote the best candidate.

According to her, she often spends more than she earns due to the skyrocketing cost of essentials.
Following the video’s circulation, the corps member claimed she received a warning from the NYSC board, cautioning her about making political statements online.
The development has triggered reactions from Nigerians, with many questioning whether corps members should be restricted from expressing their views on governance and national issues.
She said, “So, I am coming from a supermarket where I went to get foodstuff, and everything has gone up again. It’s just like every single week, prices keep increasing. I want to know, what is the government doing about this increase? Is there going to be a particular time when prices will stop going up?
“Why am I going to get a crate of eggs and I’m told it costs N6,500? It doesn’t make any sense that eggs would cost that much. I literally remember when eggs cost N800. I am so overwhelmed because this is the first time I’ve stayed out of my family house.
“After I left the supermarket, I got home, and the security and NEPA bills have skyrocketed, doubling in price. It is insane. I can’t keep up with these bills. Every single penny I make, I am using it to pay bills.
“The crazy thing is, you want to go out with your friend, and Uber is N25,000. Why are things so expensive?
“To make it worse, Lagos stinks. Everywhere smells. What is the government doing about the smell? Being an NYSC corper, there is nothing so beneficial about this scheme.
“The money I spend on transportation is much more than the allowance the federal government pays us. We should start calling out the government. For example, Tinubu, you are a terrible person. What are you doing to help our economy?”
Less than 24 hours after posting a video in which she called President Tinubu “terrible,” she shared another clip showing her receiving calls from an NYSC official.
The corps member further revealed that she has been receiving multiple calls from NYSC officials, urging her to stop criticising the government and delete the video.
